Mike MountzWrestling is an addiction. It’s an escape. When luck is down in some other facet of life, there is still what happens on the mat; despite all that is variable in the complex web of life, wrestling is the one constant. Training for twelve hours or losing twenty pounds, an addiction is fed—occupying body and mind. Wrestling is NOT fun. Unlike other sports, wrestling is not something you can PLAY. The daily grind of aches, pains, and practices that is wrestling wears a person out. A wrestler slowly becomes his own worst enemy, dreading the sport he once enjoyed and is conditioned to believe is still fun. He begins to ask himself “why?” He searches for an answer he can only find on the mat. Because for that one moment his arm is raised above his head, everything comes full circle, and the sport that embodies an all guts and no glory attitude is worth everything. Terry RossI love to skydive.
